My real breakthrough was THE GRUFFALO, again illustrated by Axel. We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes.My favourite part of filming the video was the ghost head part. With this picture you could make a poster sized version for the whole class to see. You could Tippex out the titles leaving just the illustrations. The children could then predict what sort of books they are. This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. The book itself includes an extended range of verbs in the past tense such as ‘curled up’, ‘read’, ‘found’, ‘cried’, ‘went’, ‘told’, ‘shook’, ‘jumped’, ‘built’, ‘chose’, ‘saw’, ‘waved’, ‘stole’, ‘caught’… This is just a selection. You could select a few from throughout the book and get the class to tell you which story they hear the verb in.

I found this book extremely captivating to read and feel that children of a young age would find it exciting because throughout the book we are introduced to many different characters and stories. One could imagine children integrating well with the book. The knight in the book made the dragon laugh. Can you make the dragon laugh too? Do you have some good jokes? Can you write them on our template and then try them out on your family, in person, on the phone or maybe on FaceTime. Did they make them laugh?
